Sale of Cuttings and Fruits

Ecofruits offers a wide range of fruit and cuttings for sale. We have a department specialised in pitahaya, where we advise our clients on the cultivation, and the production and sale of our flagship product, the Pitahaya.

• From the Taino Pitahaya (scaly fruit), the Pitaya is cultivated in Central American countries. It can be found in regions of the Amazon jungle, especially in Peru, Costa Rica and Mexico.
• The Pitahaya, or dragon fruit, needs a particularly sandy and well-drained soil in order to develop.
• The fruit contains a multitude of nutritional properties such as antioxidants, mucilage, ascorbic acid and phenols.
• At Ecofruits we are specialised in the cultivation and sale of Pitaya.

THE PITAHAYA

The pitahaya was first discovered in the wild by Spanish conquistadors in Mexico, Colombia, Central America and the Antilles, who gave it the name 'Pitaya', which means scaly fruit. The pitaya is a treasure from a nutritional point of view, as it contains antioxidants, mucilage, ascorbic acid and phenols. It is rich in vitamin C, contains B vitamins, minerals such as calcium, phosphorous and iron, has a high water content, and has vegetable protein and soluble fibre. The most usual multiplication of the pitahaya is by means of vegetative propagation through stakes. The propagation by seeds is not advisable, since it is a very slow process, and it can take at least seven years to become a productive plant.
